According to environmental experts, humanity now produces more than 400 million tons of plastic every year. More than 80% of it ends up in landfills, rivers, seas, and oceans.
Plastic does not disappear. It breaks down over hundreds of years. It enters the bodies of animals, into the soil, into the water — and ultimately into our own bodies.
Microplastics have already been found in the air we breathe and even in the placentas of newborns.
This is not the future. This is already the present.
